Liked: The beds were comfortable, the undercover car parking.
Disliked: The rest of the room was old, damaged, dirty and basic, no bedside tables or lamps, one coat hanger, nowhere to hang the towels, the carpet was dirty with stains especially in the corridor, the chair fabric was stained, the walls had dirty parks on them and we killed two cockroaches in the kitchenette. There was no deadlock for the door and we did feel unsafe.

Disliked: Unsafe for female travelers. I booked this hotel for myself and my 17-year-old daughter for a visit to Newcastle.When I booked the hotel, I made sure it was secure. When we arrived, we were given a lock code for the front door, the hotel had no staff on the premises. Initially, I thought it would be OK because no one could walk in from the street. However when we went to go out for dinner, I noticed that the fire escape doors were jarred open with a small rock. I then shut the fire escape doors and rang the contact number to let them know. The staff said thanks for letting them know, and they would contact the manager. When we returned, the doors were jarred open again. This really concerned me as anyone from the street could walk in and my daughter and I did not feel safe. Also, on the fire escape doors it said there was an alarm though no alarm was activated.I rang the contact number again to let them know that we would be leaving and I would like a refund, they said they needed to contact the manager. They later called me to advise that a refund could only be given once the cleaner had assessed that the room had not been used.We were only in the room for an hour. The beds were not used and we left the room in the same condition as when we arrived. The next day they refused to give a refund as they said we had use the bathroom. I advised that this was unacceptable and this had nothing to do with the safety issue. A few days later the manager called me back to let me know that they couldn’t provide a refund and that I should do better research before booking accommodation. I was very offended by this as he did not seem to care about our safety and I had researched that the hotel had security. The manager did give me a 70% refund, which I am grateful for. However it was a very stressful situation and made our trip unenjoyable.

Will never stay in this...

Liked: Bedding/towels were clean. Although there was no toaster, the kitchenette was clean and adequate. There were no further positives to this room.
Disliked: Thin walls between rooms. You could hear everything from other rooms. Bathroom was very small and dirty. Nowhere to put toiletries etc. The bed was very uncomfortable. No bedside lamps. The furniture was in a poor state of repair. Walls were dirty. Have the photos to prove it. No chain lock on the main door. Felt particularly insecure when a couple in an adjoining room were fighting/yelling and slamming their door and carrying the dispute into the hallway.

Just stay elsewhere!!

Liked: The location was suitable, close to the train station.
Disliked: Both rooms had a disgusting smell. We had to spray the room with deodorant to make it bearable. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. We could feel every spring in the mattress, and the pillows were so flat that they were almost non-existent. There was only one plate and one bowl in the cupboard for 2 people.No bedside lamp.
