Disappointing
Liked: Nice grounds Comfortable bedTasty food
Disliked: - Very dated.- Rattling windows with tissue wedged in to try and stop the rattling.- Coffee stained carpet. - Terrible water pressure.- Food delicious but tiny portions. - Tried to charge me more at reception for a mistake made by booking.com. - Massively overpriced for what it is!

Very good
Liked: Lovely location and facilities. Staff were polite and looked after us well. Thought however the restaurant meals were overpriced for what you received.

Better than I thought it...
Liked: Pleasantly surprised as thought it might be rundown elegance. But no, all in good order. Smallish room, but very comfortable bed, lovely view over the grounds. Excellent wifi in the room, which I needed to do some work. Lovely modern bathroom with strong shower. Room warm, no a/c, but turning off the heating and opening the windows worked perfectly. Coffee machine and kettle. Could maybe do with another light, as quite muted at night. Perfect for my visit to the golf club down the road. Staff professional and suitably friendly. Not amazing.
Disliked: Restaurant disappointing. Goats cheese salad starter had 3 bits of lettuce, very disappointing for the price. Do not book this hotel if you are not good with stairs. It is a rambling old house, which is great, but no lifts that I could see, and stairs up to floor one, then walk a bit, then another few stairs, then walk a bit, then more stairs. Make sure when you book that you ask for the ground floor! TV remote worked but kept sticking.

Beautiful grounds, nice hotel and...
Liked: The room was nice and comfortable, the grounds and property were beautiful - definitely get out for a nice walk! Breakfast was good. The country club and pool was nice and not too busy.
Disliked: The dinner in the Anderida restaurant was disappointing. The food was nice but very small portions for the high prices. It felt very stiff and pretentious and lacked personality. The staff were pleasant but no personality came through from them. We were offered bread with the meal which we wanted as the portions were small, to be told then that there was no bread available. At the end of the meal we said 'the food was good but we really would have liked the bread to go with the fresh butter that was on the table!' to then be presented with a basket of bread once we had finished the meal. Not sure what happened there but for the high prices charged these sorts of things shouldn't happen. We also paid £50 for 2 cocktails and some chips as a snack when we arrived late afternoon which was crazy pricing for a lounge bar that didn't have much atmosphere. I would stay at the hotel again but would definitely go to the local pub for dinner instead. Also, it's a shame the pool doesn't have a sauna but I believe there used to be one but it burnt down and now can't be rebuilt!
