Lovely historic hotel
Liked: Great historic hotel. Room smaller than expected but was comfortable and had everything you needed but lack of character. Located centrally in town and great Irish Bar, Dillon made great cocktails and took part in jingo one evening

The staff were great !...
Liked: The room was very basic for the price and we had expected art deco decor
Disliked: Room was small and had air con units right outside window so was very noisy. No view

Very good
Liked: The 1st room we were given was noisy (above the pub) and another room calmer and much nicer was given to us instead. The hotel is very clean.

An iconic hotel in the...
Liked: The Masonic is a true landmark hotel. It’s very good and well managed. We stayed in a King room and the Anna Pavlova suite which was simply a dream. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the terrace is fantastic, the beds are good, rooms and building are very clean with an eye for detail and well maintained. We enjoyed the (optional) breakfast at the hotel and since the restaurant was closed on Monday we went to Hapi Organic Cafe around the corner which was excellent as well. The City walking tour (and learn about the history of the hotel) is a must and we enjoyed a beer and fries at the Irish Bar next door. This hotel is one of those gems that you occasionally discover.
Disliked: Parking rules are strict in Napier. The hotel offered parking for NZ$20 a day while city parking was NZ$2 per hour with a maximum of only 2 hours so you have to plan accordingly. Parking during the weekend is free.
