Disappointing
Liked: Sea view. Left luggage on check-out.
Disliked: Mould on tiles and shower screen , cracked tiles, dirty marks on outside side panel of bath, two brown marks (burns?) on bottom of bath, gouge on another panel. No window in the bathroom, it would have been helpful to have the light above the mirror working. I did tell reception about that, but nothing was done. Bathroom floor did not look particularly clean, nor did the bedroom carpet. When going out in the morning I was told my room would be given a "wee freshen up", but it was obvious on my return that it had not. Used cup still dirty. Reception informed me on check-in that he was giving me a "wee upgrade" - if that was so, I wonder what the room originally allocated to me was like. I did not expect a sea view, but had one from a small window in the third floor bedroom. However, there was mould around the window. I could not switch the tv on and eventually found the battery cover was missing and one battery was half out. I remedied that, but never found the cover. Telephone not plugged in. I noticed the cable on the floor, and was unable to connect it. On going out next morning, I asked ladies in reception if it is normal not to have information folders in bedrooms- they did not know, although it says on the card given to me on check-in "Please read our guest folders on your writing desk for any further information". When I returned later in the day, one had been put in. Reception on check-in told me the front door would be locked at 22.30, with a security code to get in if necessary. I arrived back after 21.00 to find the front door not locked but Reception closed with a grille over the desk. Just as well I had taken my room key, but when I did not the next night I had to go in the bar, and ask the barman who had to go downstairs and fetch someone to get my key. On the card I had been given, it said Reception 8am - 10pm, (11pm? in room folder? ) A mobile number was given for out of hours duty manager.

Good enough stay at hotel...
Liked: Good location, staff were nice and friendly, did not eat there as had other arrangements but both restaurants looked nice and good choice of food. Hotel was clean and nice touches like toiletries. Good view from window of waterfront from bedroom window. Hotel did have a pleasant atmosphere.
Disliked: Decor was outdated and hotel could do with major refurbishment. Bedroom was ok although the wall heater was not working so they had to bring up small electric heater to place on floor. Phoned reception and they came to room within 5 mins and were very apologetic. Things like some of the light bulbs in room were not checked to see if working and was missing light at one side of the bed. Cracked tiles on bathroom floor and everything was just a bit shabby and needed updated. Bed sheets and duvets were spotless and nice white fluffy towels. Although decor was not great it was very clean.

Disliked: Would have been better as the 2 single mattresses didn’t line up well.
