Liked: The hotel looked very nice, clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and approachable. The room was clean, stylish, spacious, with a good size TV. Bed was very comfy and I slept very well. Breakfast was delicious and there was a great choice of both, continental `buffet` and cooked food. The were able to cater for my special dietary needs and alergies.
Disliked: The chair in my room looked a bit tired, with severe scruff marks and flaking off finish/leather. There was badly flaking paint on the bathroom ceiling. Aircon reset itself over night to cold fan so it was a bit chilly and noisy in the early morning and it woke me up. The choice of evening meal was very limited and lacked healthy choices of mixed salad or mixed vegatable. Not a big issue as there are many places to eat around however not great if you just want food and rest after work. It took a fair wait for a simple meal to arrive in the quiet evening.

Liked: Staff were so friendly and smiley, which just made our stay feel all the better. They were sweet enough to provide a special request in the room, and were prompt and polite responding to any questions we had before arrival. The room was ready early, which allowed us to enjoy extra time exploring the local sites; but even if not, the staff are great in offering to keep luggage (both during and after check in).The location was pretty perfect, with lots of convenient stores, eateries, cafes, pubs, historic sites and entertainment well within walking distance. We arrived on the train, and with a 23kg bag and heavy rucksack, it was a short, easy walk to the hotel.Alternative milk was provided when requested to be included in the fridge, but wasn't re stocked alongside everything else when empty. We did appreciate having a bowl of fruit available on our arrival. We enjoyed the choice of complementary snacks that were restocked; as well as having a kettle, mini fridge and nescafe coffee machine in the room. It was usefull having an ironing board just incase, but again, the cover is need of replacing.The room had a separate shower and bath, both rather spacious, with a lovely scented provision of soap/shampoo/conditioner/moisturiser.Having the mascot duck with the attached information cards was a sweet touch! I loved the inclusion of the lavender pillow spray.The restaurant and check in area looked lovely, with comfortable seating. There was also an outdoor seating space with blankets provided during cold weather.The TV was great for allowing casting to watch films when ending the day in the room. You can use any of your streaming apps easily, if that's a priority for anyone booking.The windows were large, as was the mirror in the room, both a plus for letting in light and getting ready. We'd probably pick a balcony room next time, to allow fresh air in. Enough wardrobe and drawer space too.
Disliked: Although the room was mostly clean, there were a few stains on the pillows and curtains. We really did enjoy our stay, but would hope the dust and stains would be sorted. The drawers weren't cleaned properly; we found crumbs when unpacking our belonginga into them. Our booking did say city view, it was barely overlooking the city, more so a square with flats across (again, not a bother for us on this occasion, but I understand this may be a disappointment to other bookers) Although it was confirmed vegan options were available, that wasn't really the case. A salad and vegetable pinwheel were all on offer, so we didn't try the restaurant nor room service /breakfast. Overall, we would like to stay again, but would request a change in room if stains were once again on the bedding/pillows. We also wondered why there was no toilet brush in the bathroom, it seems it should be a basic standard, especially when other basic amenities, like the kettle, are already provided. The towel radiator in the bathroom was also had loosening screws, which could be a safety issue if not checked and tightened. There was a minor sewage smell everytime we'd start the shower but it would dissipate. I'd read old reviews mentioning there had been a sewage problem, and it may still need additional maintenance to completely resolve.
