Liked: The Amistad is a small hotel and it felt personable. Amistad has a comfortable atmosphere and the staff (Drew and Mike) were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is wonderful and delicious, a huge bonus.

Alright but nothing special. Noisy.
Liked: Easy to pick up the keys in the evening. Polite staff. Room was clean
Disliked: Very noisy street, whether from the tram or the people in the street. Blinds don't really keep the street light out either.

Disliked: Because of the great location, the surroundings are a bit noisy. I did get used to it by the end of my staay.

Superb
Liked: The hotel couldn't be better located, within the Grachtenbelt and only 5 minutes from the Leidseplein. The price level is okay for Amsterdam. It even included a delicious breakfast. Possibility of luggage deposit after check-out on the day of departure. I was very satisfied with my stay at the Amistad!

Great value
Liked: During my stay at hotel Amistad I felt welcomed and the accommodation offered me everything I needed. The location is perfect: the hotel is well connected via tram to the central station, museum quarter is a 10 minutes walk, dam square can be reached via tram in a few minutes or simply walking for around 15 minutes. The area nearby is lively and full of restaurants. The single room I slept in was small, but well organised and it felt plenty enough for a solo traveller who spend most of the day outside. The room was clean (same goes for bedsheets and towels), and more than warm, which I appreciated (but note that heating can only be adjusted through a 0/1 button). The bed was fine, bathroom and shower worked well, even if the sink was pretty small.Breakfast was basic but good, especially because eggs and pancakes were freshly cooked by staff members, who were always very friendly. It's also worthy mentioning that it was possible to leave lugagges after check out and pick them up later.Lastly, I really appreciated the coffee/hot water machine, with tea and mugs, to be freely available for guests all the day. It was a really nice touch.
Disliked: Even if it's no big deal, the only thing I would really recommend is to add a flexible small shower head instead of having only a higher, bigger and fixed rain shower head: it would make showering much easier.Readers should also be aware that there is no elevator. I understood that this is common in old Amsterdam buildings and it was never a problem, but some people can feel those stairs as a bit steep.Lastly, the single room has no separation between the bathroom area and the night area. Still, since one is alone in the room, I don't consider it an issue.
