Worst hotel in Iowa
Liked: Being charged 356 USD for 2 nights despite checking out upon arrival, and no they haven't fixed it, we have to go to a small claims court. Booking.coms incompetence to help us. Being in a room full of flies and beetles, with a fan as loud as a train stuck "on" because it is broken, being told to leave when complaining, being told there is no other room available for us so we either sleep in that infested room or leave (without a refund, not even a cancellation fee), being told they will call the police on us for saying "let's be reasonable and logical". Please see the low reviews for this place on Google maps, you will see complaints of roaches, bed bugs, and awful management. The manager even replies to a complaint about her in her own name (Tammy, Manager replies to a complaint about Tammy) stating that it is a former employee. They also reply and say "that is the Americ Inn on the other side of town" when it is not. This place is disgusting, save yourself!
Disliked: I didn't like being given a room infested with bugs. Despite giving them photos of that, as well as pubic hairs in the bed sheets, not being offered another room but instead being told to leave. On Google maps, look at the low reviews and you will see how often these people threaten to call police, when there is a complaint. They threatened us despite us being reasonable, fortunately I recorded it. I also recorded how ridiculous the front desk person, April, is. She refused to give us the last name of her manager, stating that she needed to ensure we are checking out before giving it to us. The fan was broken, they would not give us another room, they provided zero safe and clean accommodation. People have reported bed bugs there and it looks like there is. And now we have to take them to Iowa small claims court to get back our 356 USD or whatever it is, because they still charged us a full weekend despite leaving in 3 hours or less. Despite the clear unfairness, booking.com has so far not helped to a satisfactory extent, which is unusual for them, usually they do help, but we will take this as far as it needs to go.
