Disinterested management to provide basic...

Disliked: Our stay at AmericInn in Ames was terrible. Management should be fired.(1) Water in our room was not hot when we arrived nor the next morning at 7:30 AM, and we told the desk manager. “OK, she said, just wait and it will be hot”. At 8:00, we called again and was told the same thing, adding that she’d tell the motel’s manager. At 8:20 AM, we repeated our complaint that there was still no hot water and she repeated her assurance that the water would soon be hot. At 8:30, the same story, and we were told that she’d locate the manager and he’d fix things. Finally, the manager called 15 minutes later and he said he’d fix things, noting that checkout was at 10. We asked to be moved to another room, or to be able to use a shower in another room. “Oh no, we can’t do that”, the manager said. So, off to breakfast we went without a shower.(2) At exactly 9:00 AM on Sunday, with a line-up of motel guests in the breakfast area waiting to get coffee, juice, and a few of the meager scraps of breakfast provided, the desk manager announced that breakfast was over. Within 3 minutes, the coffee machine was shut off, the refrigerator door was locked, and all remaining food, etc. were removed. Back to our room, where there still was no hot water.(3) The deadbolt to our room was broken. The bathtub drain was clogged.In disgust, we walked out of AmericInn in Ames, vowing never to return to AmericInn.

Disappointed to say the least

Liked: The pool area was nice.
Disliked: The beds were uncomfortable and the room was not clean. It smelled of dog urine. The furniture was all chipping too. We tried to check in at 2:35pm and we understood check in was not until 3pm. They wanted to charge an extra $10 to check in 25min early. I asked to have the 1st floor as I recently broke my leg and there is not an elevator. The front desk lady acted like my request was a big hassle and had to get someone else to help. She stated there were no rooms available at all until 3pm as they had been full the night before and were still cleaning them. By this time it was 2:45pm. Not sure how if there are zero rooms available they would have them all cleaned in 15min, but oh well. We left and said we would be back at 3pm. We drove down to a gas station and waited. When we got back at 3pm there was a very long line for check in. The next day, we skipped the free breakfast as the lack of cleanliness made us uncomfortable to eat. The reviews had been great, but we were extremely disappointed.
