Great location, but unacceptable hygiene...

Liked: The hotel is in an excellent, central location with easy access to the city.
Disliked: Our stay in Room 121 was deeply disappointing. The bathroom had no door or even a curtain, offering no privacy whatsoever. More troubling was the persistent and lingering foul smell that lasted throughout our stay. We could not identify the source until checkout, when we discovered used women’s lingerie and men’s boxer briefs on the top shelf of the closet. The odor was unpleasant and resembled that of spoiled shellfish. I have attached pictures. This clearly indicates that the room was not properly cleaned or inspected before our arrival. Such oversights are unacceptable and reflect a serious lapse in hygiene and quality control. I selected this hotel only because the Best Western was fully booked, but I will not be returning and strongly advise others to take caution.

Liked: I really appreciated that the room had a bathtub, which was perfect for relaxing after many hours of driving through the rain. I had messaged the property through Booking to ask if they could reserve a room with a bathtub, since the listing mentioned either a shower or bathtub. They replied very quickly and confirmed the bathtub, which made me feel genuinely looked after. The room was also clean, spacious, and quiet, with a calm atmosphere and a great location for exploring Wels.
Disliked: Just a couple of minor things that could be improved: the area under the bathtub drain cover was a bit rusty, and the “large double bed” turned out to be two single beds pushed together with separate mattresses and a shared topper. Not a big issue, but something to keep in mind, especially for a 4-star standard.
