Good

Liked: The bedroom was nice , headboard a bit grubby, windows held open with a piece of wood but quality bed linen and the room was lovely and warm . Wardrobe creaked when you walked across the floor so no tip toeing to the loo in the middle of the night . Bathroom a little dated but generally clean and heaps of hot water . Fab!The gentleman on reception was very welcoming. He was warm , friendly and attentive. He served us drinks , dinner , breakfast and he'd probably have read us a bedtime story if requested (we didn't, that would be weird) . The food was adequate, it's Altnaharra at the end of the season , I wasn't expecting Gordon Ramsey!!If I was going to Altnaharra again then I'd stay at this place but it's a heck of a trek and I don't anticipate a return any time soon. This corner of the world is definitely worth a visit, it's stunning , truly amazing scenery and you could do a great deal worse than staying at this hotel .
Disliked: Nothing really , it needs a little tlc here and there but sometimes that's part of the charm !

Disliked: Room was pokey and poorly heated and there was funny smell in the corridors.

Long way from anywhere very...

Liked: Middle of Scottish High Land moor was not sure what to expect. Very isolated therefore absorbed in silence, the setting was wonderful. Staff is helpful, both dinner and breakfast menu had variety of food including expected local Scottish food and very nice. Aging building but comfortable room with shower and good bed.

Just loved the location of...

Liked: We loved this property. The room was exceptional, large and comfortable with an enormous bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast and excellent evening meal; all freshly prepared and cooked with a varied menu for both meals.The location was exceptional. A little off the beaten track as we were travelling the NC 500, but the journey was breath taking and worth while.The outside of the building was in the process of decoration but this did not impact our stay and did not reflect the inside of the property.The host was lovely as was the chef; thank you. Would love to return as this was our very favourite hotel.
Disliked: Although we were more than satisfied with every aspect of our stay, the host mentioned that our room was due to be refurbished!

Great place to stay in...

Liked: Great location and cosy bar / lounge area. Excellent food. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Was fairly expensive.
