Great location only a few...
Liked: Two-bedroom 'unit' (downstairs), with kitchenette and a spacious outdoor area, although it was too cold when we were there to really utilise this. Very spacious and the hot tub worked really well (definitely a highlight). The owners live on site behind the building and they were very pleasant. I saw bikes out front but not sure if these were free to use or you had to hire them as we didn't use them. Wifi was quick and there was even a microwave to heat food. Breakfast was okay, although limited options - porridge, 2-minute noodles, biscuits, nut bars and fruit. All utensils and bowls were cleaned every day, which was good as there's no sink in the kitchenette. There's a TV too and managed to log in to my Netflix so that was a bonus. About 7 min drive to Volcanoes National Park so very close, and about 2-3 mins to Volcano Village. Try the Thai Thai Bistro - amazing food. All in all we enjoyed our stay here.
Disliked: Not ideal if you are a light sleeper - or maybe ask for a top unit. The floors are wooden, and we could hear people walking around upstairs (especially early mornings) and also their shower sounded like a waterfall at times. Bring milk, as that isn't provided, or tea bags. Therre was a coffee and a coffee machine, but no filters, so you can't actually make a coffee unless you bring your own filters. It would have been nice to have a kettle. Bed was comfy but my pillows were so lumpy I had to borrow one from my Dad.

Good value close to volcano.
Liked: Good value close to volcano. The room was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: The breakfast food left in the room was acceptable, but I would have preferred better.

Passable
Liked: In terms of the location and the surroundings, this was a great accommodation that would have deserved a high rating.
Disliked: But unfortunately there was one minus point, which led to a significant decrease in the rating. In our apartment, room 3, there was only a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and some dishes and a few knives, forks and spoons - and after we asked, a kettle. IMO this is not a kitchenette - as stated in the apartment description. The reference to the sink in the bathroom as a sink also for washing up could be acceptable, but without providing any means for washing up, it is simply unsuitable. Well, we did our best to get the dishes sufficiently clean - and hope that our predecessors tried to do the same.Long story short: if the available "kitchenette" equipment is sufficient for your own purposes, this is a great place to stay - but only then.

Calming comfortable place amongst the...
Liked: Excellent location, close to Volcanoes National Park. Nestled within trees, lots of birdsong. My husband enjoyed the night frogsong. Spacious room and lots of hooks to hang clothes and towels! Nice ripe papayas at breakfast.
Disliked: Some instructions on preferred way to do dishes.

Good stay. Delivered everything as...
Liked: In room continental-type breakfast with tea/coffee items, fruit/nut bars, biscuits and nice selection of fruit.Great location/minutes drive convenient to Volcanoes Park.Very quiet setting in rain forest.
Disliked: As clearly advertised beforehand, this particular unit lacks a standard stand-up shower. Hand held shower without a mount while in a tub is a minor inconvenience when cleaning up. Trade-off is that it’s a jacuzzi tub.

Bad attitude, very dirty place.
Liked: Nothing. The person who took our call had an attitude when we called to ask questions about directions since it was confusing.
Disliked: It was filthy. It smelled moldy upon walking in. There was pink moldy filth in the bathroom. Everything was filthy.

A cute, comfy place for...
Liked: Shannon greeted us warmly and showed us to the room as soon as we pulled in. The location is great for a trip to Kilauea and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Althought it is on a road with several other homes and BnBs, the lodge is nestled in it's own stand of trees, so it feel completely secluded. The room (#2) was cute and comfy. I loved being in the middle of all the trees; and we appreciated the fruit for breakfast!
Disliked: The property is advertised as having a kitchenette, which led me to expect a kitchen sink and a cook top, electric burner, or grill - some sort of appliance to cook food that cannot be microwaved (i.e. chicken, burgers, fish, rice). We spent the morning at the farmer's market with plans to make a simple dinner at the AirBnb. With only one knife, an unstable cutting board, one small sink in the bathroom and no option for cooking; I was a bit frustrated and did not feel the unit was properly represented on the site. We thought the room was cute and comfy, and I know Hawaii is expensive, so it was priced fair for what I expected - I just expected something different based on the website. I just like to cook dinner, explore, relax, and check out the scenery at the end of a long day - which is the main reason I look for great BnB options. This one is like a hotel room, but it's perfectly fine for anyone wanting to eat out most meals. A better online description would be very helpful.

Fine, but probably not something...
Liked: Great location! Cozy little spot.
Disliked: A bit disturbing to pull up to a CLOSED sign on the office (even though I already had all the instructions I needed to check in) and a fair amount of clutter, plus a pool, very visible even though not a part of the rental unit, that had clearly not been cleaned for many weeks. Made me wonder what I was walking into.
