Liked: Had everything you needed. The room was big, bed was comfortable and equipped with all you could need. The location was perfect for the event I was attending, Stockport Noir. I was warned in advance about potential noise but it wasn't a problem at all. There were two events happening and neither were intrusive even when walking past. Not an outstanding hotel but it was perfect for what I needed.
Disliked: The fact it doesn't have a lift is annoying but no huge deal. It says there's only two floors but once you go up the main staircase there are still staircases to rooms. That really is the only negative.

Ideal for a cost-effective and...

Liked: Convenient for what I needed. Good location and plenty of parking. Staff were excellent and very accomodating - providing late check in and opening the bar when required.
Disliked: There was a general aroma of cigarettes not only in the communal areas but also in my room. This is the fourth time I've stayed at the Alma and this is the first time such an odour has been noticeable. It wasn't unbearable but definitely noticeable.
