Great for historic stay, shame...

Liked: Actual house was amazing with so much history and unexpected evidence of the past owners through displays and access to preserved spaces. Breakfast was good quality and staff were really friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful.
Disliked: Rooms were more basic than expected in decor and whilst clean had a slight hospital smell/ feel to them. Also, the heating came on at 3am and made a lot of noise keeping me and my wife awake for an hour or more.

Liked: All the staff were friendly and helpful during our visit. Lots of choices for breakfast and room easily found. Lovely room a short walk from the Manor House where the reception, bar and breakfast room are. Would happily recommend and stay there again.

Disliked: Looked like uni accommodation, smelt like uni accommodation, with the smell of damp flooding out from the bathroom.All could have been overlooked for a 1 night stay and an evening check in... and then we sat on the bed. It was the hardest, most uncomfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in! Our double bed was made up of 2 single mattresses with hard edges to each mattress (to make sure you didn't stray from your side) and an apparent absence of any padding to cover the springs that failed to provide any bounce ensured that a comfortable nights sleep was impossible.Only gave 1 star because the breakfast was nice....Would definitely not recommend!
