Great Hotel, but staff need...

Liked: Very nice hotel inside. Well decorated, with its own quirky style. Nice, cosy bedrooms. All fresh and newly decorated, nice and clean. Very comfortable bed.
Disliked: Absolutely disappointed with the staff. Didn't greet us politely, no smiles on the face, no proper greetings. No explanations at all about what facilities they have got (that is a shame, as Hotel inside is very nice and has its own character). They asked for a credit card at reception, took money as deposit, and did not explain why (said only for the beer spillages on the carpet). By the end they took £10 from my account without any explanations (we tried to contact the hotel with this question, still waiting for the response).Also, reception could warn us about the area and situation in the street!!! It is dangerous to go outside the hotel, you could see lots of drug addicts on the street, smoking crack!!! People were sitting outside in small groups, in different places on the street, smell of faeces and urine everywhere, needles on the pavement!!!

Liked: - Nice rooms- good design- Nice bar
Disliked: - Noisy (club next door with loud music until 4am)- Lots of drug addicts outside which give an unsafe feeling (many more than I expected, we took a taxi because we felt unsafe)- Staff super slow, long waiting times at check out

Liked: I still like the quirkiness and nice laid back staff and atmosphere. I like the location,.close to the station and the bookfair.The fabulous restaurant.
Disliked: I remember there used to be tea and coffee in the rooms, but this has disappeared.The telephone didn't work.No hot water one morning.Pillows not firm enough
