Fantastic location and beautifully restored...
Liked: Beautiful Property and location. This historic property has been beautifully restored. There is an abundance of historic decor inside, as well as very nice outdoor spaces including the large front porch that overlooks Battery Park, and a lovely backyard with gardens and a sitting area. It was very quiet at night. The staff is extremely hospitable and welcoming. Short walk to downtown Charleston.

Ten out of ten!
Liked: Most wonderful, hospitable experience I have ever had. The staff (Abigail and Richard) were so welcoming and accommodating. We loved our room in the carriage house which overlooked the garden. The house was gorgeous, we especially loved the winding staircase and library. We enjoyed the cheese hour and breakfast brought to our rooms, as well as access to drinks in the cafe. 20 S Battery is the perfect stay for a romantic getaway! I can’t wait until our next stay here.
Disliked: N/A, everything was wonderful!

Gorgeous house and location
Liked: Location beautiful and quiet, though no restaurants nearby - but that’s fine if you’re happy to do a 15 min walk. Loved sitting on the porch for cheese and wine in the evening - all very good quality despite being free. Staff were very helpful and generous. Was a pleasant surprise to find parking in front of the property for free (with a card from reception) but perhaps wouldn’t be possible in the high season. Also was surprised to get breakfast at the property as we thought it was room only - it was more of a snack but if you don’t need a cooked breakfast, all you’d need - and you can have it delivered to your room if you like.
Disliked: Rooms a little small - but with everything you need. Property could be probably feel more comfortable if there wasn’t so much of a focus on antique furniture - something the U.K. hotels do better is being able to highlight and celebrate the antiquity of a house but with modern comfort: it doesn’t need to be one or the other. The room for guests with armchairs etc downstairs was a bit pointless really as smelt of damp etc so didn’t want to spend time there!
