Far too expensive to have...

Liked: Great location, lovely converted structure. Room was beautiful and well appointed.
Disliked: I hate to issue a bad review, but the nightly cost was too high not to describe shortcomings. 1) Carpets in the room were filthy. Lovely perhaps when new, but stained and apparently never cleaned.2) Carpets in public areas are not much better.3) Amazing Turkish Towels, but deeply stained, thread bare along with holes.4) Breakfast area was too small not to have an attendant actively bussing tables. I am happy to buss my own table but not those prior diners.5) Food was cold and not particularly good. Coffee far from hot, heat lamp burnt out.6) Breakfast room did not open on time. We had a busy travel day and wanted to grab a coffee, muffin and run. Nope- had to wait.7) This topped it off; minutes after opening I asked for jam. Response “oh we are out”. How does one close the prior day knowing something so simple can be rectified by opening the next morning.? There is a grocery store 50 yards away. 8) Room 5, the entry door jamb was so misaligned that outside hallway lights illuminated the darkened room to the point I used an airline issued sleep mask which allowed me to comfortably sleep.Paying over $500 a night I could have departed the property feeling as if I received good value for money. However, something is missing here.
