WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN

Liked: Breakfast was ok.
Disliked: Worst B&B we ever stayed at.Bed was Hard as a Rock. Wrap around border lights were working intermittent due to switch broken. Room was very Dark due to the type of Ceiling having a pin whole design and 2 side table lamps having bulbs inside and only dim light coming out.Fan in room was so loud we could not watch TV without turning volume way up.A/C vent was turned off and very dirty.Whole house had a Very strong Musty Smell.Bathroom Outlet was not working (GFCI WAS TRIPPED AND COULD NOT BE RESET).Balcony was very dirty and cushions on chairs were dirty and had Bird Poop or another animal excrement, so we could not sit out there.

Bad

Disliked: Myself and friend went for a moms get away and stayed here based on reviews. We have both previously stayed at different bed and breakfast places and have never had this experience. Before I start the 1 star review I will say check in instructions were clear, no issues getting in and the location was great. Now onto the reason I’m giving 1 star. First, the smell. I do understand this is a very old house as are other ones I have stayed at, but the moldy mildew smell here was just about unbearable especially on second floor and the dampness in room 7 was horrible. Upon entering our room we noticed mold/mildew/extremely dirty ventilation and mold on the back of a chair. As well as no fire alarm. I did text the number that sent the check in instructions and asked if we could change to a different room but there was no other room available and I asked about the fire alarm which they said they had fire alarms and left it at that, no further responses. Keep in mind this is a non refundable stay. My friend and I chose to try and make the best of things and stay. The linens did not match on the twin beds and the sheets were so wrinkled like they had been in a ball before putting on. Let’s move on to breakfast. If anyone has stayed at a nice bed and breakfast one of the best things is the BREAKFAST and per reviews it was said breakfast was amazing here. It’s usually prepared by a chef or actual cook and is more gourmet. I’m not sure who has been writing the reviews for this place but the breakfast was far from gourmet. It was frozen waffles, microwaved bacon, store bought Walmart mini donuts/muffins and meat/cheese on a plate. They did offer eggs. At this point my friend and I are pretty shocked. The inn keeper there during breakfast and the day wasn’t the warmest and even vacuumed right under my feet and wiped off in front of the microwave as I was using it.

Great Location ! Beautiful home...

Liked: Ester, the lovely woman who "does it all!" The breakfast she made us was absolutely wonderful! It was a made to order plusshe had coffee, juices, water, breads of all kind, cheeses/salami, jellies, peanut butter, cream cheese, real butter, yogurt outon the beautiful set table for your convenience. She would then come in to see what you wanted custom and she was such a great COOK!! I also realized that she did all of the housekeeping also! She was very nice and polite and caring!! the owners have a "jewel" of a person to work for them!! She also told me that the owners were her dear friends and they were very nice to interact with also. They did such a great job restoring the home from what Ester said.
Disliked: Parking was a little tricky! We stayed in #7 (which the sign for #7 was the very first space you came up on when you drove in. It looked like a 1 and I could never find #7 until other people staying there came in and said oh yes, it is over here. he had said the sign was actually knocked down when he came in, he stood it back up. You really needed to back in, one you got into the parking lot as it was tight quarters if they were going to be full house! Also, you had to drive up on the sidewalk in the back to come and go, if someone is parked in #7. Other than that, parking was ok and the area that you parked in was very CLEAN and nice. Because my significant other is legally blind, I had requested a bottom floor room if possible. We had my sister staying with us also which was nice to be able to find a 2 bedroom, bed and breakfast, so we could all stay together. 2 days before checking in I got an email stating that our room would be on the first floor. When we got there, we were actually on floor 2. Needless to say, I already knew there was no elevator, which was ok. The steps to the 2nd floor were very steep and probably had at least 25 steps up, and the steps were only about 10-12 inches in width! This was a hike for my significant other but we managed it. I did interact with the owner by text once I got there, to make sure that the room they had given us was correct. She was so nice!! She apologized for the mix up and did let me know that they do not even have a room for 3 persons, 2 bedroom on the first floor with a balcony. She had mistakenly told me the 1st floor and it should have said the 2nd floor. All was good! We just had to be very careful up and down the stairs. The last thing I would suggest is that (taking into consideration of how old the house is, built in the 1800's) the musty smellwas not good!

Very homey, clean and comfortable...

Liked: Historic home, refurbished beautifully, with a definite Mediterranean, moroccan vibe. The light fixtures throughout the property were fantastic. Some of the rooms have out of room private bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. The TV could’ve been larger. There was a coffee pot in the room with real coffee, not the crappy coffee pods that you find in other establishments. Also a small refrigerator for your take home. Everything was very clean. Breakfast is provided in the dining room, downstairs, stocked with yogurt, juices, coffee, and assortment of muffins and pastry. If you would like a heartier breakfast, Ester made us a lovely breakfast of toast, eggs, and sausage. Our bathroom was equipped with a claw foot bathtub with a shower. I’m a little older and I had a little bit of a tough time getting into the bathtub because there is no pull bars or safety grips. Would’ve appreciated a small dressing table to place my things on while I was getting ready for the day, instead of on top of the toilet seat or the floor. For those physically challenged keep in mind that there are steep stairs to the upper floors. There is a smoking area in the back and the other balconies are equipped with tables and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Parking is tight but free a five minute walk to all of the shops and restaurants. The price was very, very reasonable, especially with breakfast included, and I will go back in the future, although I will request a lower floor. My partner and I loved this place and we will go back!

Overall very good, clean and...

Liked: Excellent location made it easy to walk around the main historical area, felt safe
Disliked: The bed was overly hard/firm and having extra towels available would have been a plus (only one towel per person for two night stay, two towels each would have been preferable since the towels are quite thin.)
