A comfortable stay in an...
Liked: Staff is very kind and speak both French & English. Establishment is very clean and homey, with our room having a small refrigerator for us to put drinks & snacks in and strong WiFi. It is ideally located within walking distance of many sight seeing locations and restaurants. Also very close to the Berri-UQAM Metro station & two parking garages as the street parking is limited. Homemade breakfast is an optional add on for length of stay ($10 per person, per day). Check-in & check-out were very simple.

Delightful, friendly and very personal.
Liked: A home away from home. Spacious and comfortable room with many homely touches and decorated with flair and imagination. Very attentive hosts. Use of kitchen for tea and coffee drinking water always available, cosy lounge. Excellent central location in a quiet leafy street.
Disliked: Nothing

Excellent choice, except for our...
Liked: Excellent and safe location. It’s about two blocks to the metro. Buy tickets from metro staff or machine (no Opus card needed) and not from strangers trying to scam you. B&B is also central to walk to the University, Old Port, Chinatown, Mont Royal, old town area and more). Proprietor is kind, a good cook and a helpful source of information. Unusual set up for breakfast. You have to step outdoors 2 meters and then climb the inside steps to the dining area. B&B has lots of character!
Disliked: I think that the mattress in our room is too wide for the bottom support it’s connected too. It hangs out on each side, resulting in creakiness, disrupting our sleep. Street parking is for residents. I recommend parking your car at the nearby covered parking lot by the Grande Biblioteque.

Great place to stay when...
Liked: We really like the location, very close to the bus station. We took a bus to the cruise port in Quebec. The room was cozy and worked perfect for the one quick night we needed it.
Disliked: The mattress was uncomfortable and neither of us slept very well. But the rest was great. The room and bathroom was very clean.

Do not be fooled by...
Liked: the patio looked a pleasant place to sit.wifi worked.the sheets & shared bathroom were clean.
Disliked: the street St Christophe looked derilict with many houses looking abandoned. The area is poor , the smell of weed everywhere and groups of men hanging around smoking the herb. The home itself looked ok from outside. squeeze in front door , very steep narrow stairs to lug cases. 2nd flight of shorter stairs for those on next floor. I dont believe this ACCESS issue was mentioned. The host sells her old clothes in the landing & other junk. This place is like a backing packing hostel of years gone by. I chose because of the 9 star review, will never trust booking.com reviews again.the huge air conditioning unit was noisy and didnt stay cool for very long before turning out warm air. The electrics looked dodgy. there was a standard light on one side of bed that was turned off from the bed by yanking plug on other side of bed , so you had to fumble in dark trying to re plug it in. Light on desk didnt seem in working condition. No overhead light.the bedding was clean but at some stage the mattress had been used by a smoker. I never met host, not their fault, I was only there one night out of a booked 4 night as Air Canada strike caused my flight to move forward, I also had to depart early in the morning. I emailed ID and advised I why I checking out early. Obviously the £365 cost was non refundable but strangely on 16th I received an email asking for my Id as I was checking out tomorrow ? This is a house, they knew I had left . Odd behaviour, can only assume so they didnt want to enter a conversation about refunds by pretending they didnt know I'd vacated 2 days earlier. Never rely on Booking.com reviews. Looking back at reviews now ,most were swayed by the communal breakfast which I didn't experience. the home is useful for the travel exchange but a long unpleasant walk from the old port.
